Late last year, the NSW Government passed historic legislation that will regulate the boarding-house sector in NSW for the first time.
When fully implemented, this will include a requirement for boarding house residents to be given binding ‘occupancy agreements’ that must comply with a list of principles set out in the law. Disputes between occupants and managers can be resolved in the Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal.
We will soon publish a series of fact sheets about the new Act. In the meantime see our blog.
